Repairs after a car crashed into a home
It may seem unbelievable, but it happens more than any of us would like to imagine. A car veers off the road (for whatever reason) and slams into a home. In this instance, the vehicle damaged the shell of the home, not entering beyond the walls. The impact crumbled brick, pierced the walls of the family room, but also caused foundation damage to the front portion of the home.
Stabilize the Structure and Clean Up
SERVPRO of Wheaton / Glen Ellyn / Lisle was called to handle the immediate response, as well as the rebuild. Stabilizing the residence was the first course of action. With foundation damage it was critical to be sure to sure that the home would not suffer any additional damage. With floors and load bearing beams secured, the clean could begin. With the rebuild in mind, crews began removing damaged parts of the building, as well as preparing for new walls and structural repairs.
Rebuilding with Concrete, Brick and Mortar
The project involved replacing two walls of the foundation, restoring the exterior brick along two sides of the exterior and restoring the interior portions of the basement and front room. The restoration included new windows, drywall, flooring, a concrete A.D.A. compliant ramp and landscaping (following digging up the front yard to access the foundation).
